You’ll need to really consider track conditions, weather, and your driving line, and you’ll have to learn how to listen to the instructions coming from your navigator. Take off the assists, though, and Dirt 3 becomes very challenging. There are great handicaps for those who, like me, lack the skill but enjoy the fun of racing.
With both Dirt 3 (Codemasters PC, PS3, Xbox 360 rated teen) and MotorStorm: Apocalypse (Sony PS3 rated teen), gamers can race vehicles on all manner of tracks and surfaces, including sand, gravel, asphalt, grass, and ice.ĭirt 3 is a rally-series simulation with standard rally, rallycross, and head-to-head events, and you’ll race on courses around the world, including the forests of Finland, the grasslands of Kenya, the ice tracks at Aspen, and even an old industrial site in Michigan. When it comes to racing, the thing I like best about the off-road games is the variability of the terrain.
